9:30 a.m. An avalanche awareness training, hosted by the Northwest Colorado Snowmobile Club, is at the Freeman trailhead, approximately 11 miles north on Highway 13. The seminar is free. Call 824-5353 or 824-4198.

10 a.m. Signup for the beard-growing contest, which is part of the Craig Centennial Celebration, is at the Centennial Mall. Contestants are to come clean shaven and grow their beard for 100 days. Judging is April 21, the day Craig was incorporated 100 years ago. The contest is free.

6 p.m. The Republican Lincoln Day Dinner is at the Craig Holiday Inn. Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dick Wadhams, Colorado Republican State Chairman. The cost is $50. Call Nikki at 824-8566 to purchase tickets.

Sunday, Jan. 13

1:30 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary bingo is at the VFW Hall, 419 E. Victory Way. The event is open to the public. Sunday bingo sessions occur every week. Call Mary Walters at 824-2923.

5:30 p.m. The Northwestern Colorado American Pool Players Association 8-ball pool league is at the Popular Bar. Play starts Jan. 6, and the last day to join is Jan. 28. Call 826-2783.

Monday, Jan. 14

The Craig Branch of the Moffat County Libraries is closed for inventory.

9 to 11 a.m. Toddler/preschool playgroup is at Serendipity’s. Call Kevin at 824-1703.

2 to 4 p.m. A workshop to discuss the 2007 Seniors Needs Survey is at Moffat County Courthouse, in the conference room on the second floor. Copies of the survey will be available.

6 p.m. The monthly Humane Society of Moffat County is at the Golden Cavvy. Public is welcome to attend.

7 p.m. The Northwestern Colorado American Pool Players Association 8-ball pool league is at the Popular Bar. Play starts Jan. 6, and the last day to join is Jan. 28. Call 826-2783.

The Craig Branch of the Moffat County Libraries is closed for inventory.

5:45 to 7 p.m. Several Northwest Colorado agencies are working together to create a campaign to prevent underage drinking, which will focus on parent responsibility, community education and youth access to alcohol in our community. The meeting is in Moffat County High School library. Refreshments will be provided. Call Diane Miller at the Visiting Nurse Association at 871-7609.

6 to 7 p.m. The first of two radon education programs will be offered at the CSU Moffat County Extension Office, 539 Barclay St. A light meal and short-term radon test kit will be provided free to participants. Preregistration is required by contacting Elisa at the CSU Moffat County Extension Office, 824-9180.

6:30 to 8:15 p.m. “Pulse” Young group, for youths ages 11 to 18, meets every Tuesday at the New Creation Church in the Centennial Mall. Call 756-0010.

7 p.m. Comunidad Integrada offers a free English and Spanish learning club, Intercambio, every Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40. Call 846-5521.

8 a.m. The Craig Downtown Business Association meets at Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave. The second Wednesday of each month is a meet-and-greet, hosted by a local business.

Thursday, Jan. 17

The Craig Branch of the Moffat County Libraries reopens.

10 and 11:30 a.m. Story time at the Craig branch of the Moffat County Libraries, 570 Green St., features Winne the Pooh and Hundred Acre Woods.

Friday, Jan. 18

6 p.m. The Elks Lodge hosts bingo each Friday night. Fifteen games are played with a minimum payout of $1,000 each night. The lodge is located at 43 W. Victory Way. Doors open at 5 p.m.

7 to 9 p.m. Celebrate Recovery meets at First Baptist Church, 1150 W. Ninth St. The purpose of the group is to help people overcome hurts, habits and hang-ups in a safe environment. Live worship music and child care is provided. Late-comers are welcome. Call Caroline at 620-0659.
