Craig Paced by seniors Markie Workman and Angie Charchalis, the Moffat County High School girls basketball team ended the regular season with a win Friday night, defeating home-standing Eagle Valley, 77-33.
Workman finished the night with 22 points, and Charchalis had 14.
“Markie had a big game for us,” coach Craig Mortensen said. “She just did a great job for us tonight.”
Twelve Bulldogs played in the game, with 10 of them scoring.
The victory improves the Bulldogs record to 20-3 overall, and 13-1 in Western Slope League play.
The win also ensures that the Bulldogs will finish with at least a tie for the league championship, depending on whether Glenwood Springs wins its home game against Palisade, also Friday night.
Results from the Glenwood Springs game were not available by press time.
If Moffat County and Glenwood Springs end the season tied, there will be a coin flip to determine playoff seeding.
“We got it done, we got it over with,” the coach said. “We’re at least Western Slope League co-champs, maybe champs if Glenwood gets beat, which probably not.
“We’re looking forward to the playoffs.”

Question of the week
Did the Moffat County School Board make the right decision in replacing MCHS athletic director Rick Penner, who had been considered missing after not being heard from for about a week?
