Jo Carlson: A random act of kindness

Craig To the Editor:
I’d like to tell you a true story about what happened to my husband and me on our way to church Sunday.
We hit a pothole and had a blowout.
As Jim was working on changing the tire, a crew-cab diesel pulling a 6-horse trailer (plus living quarters) stopped on the shoulder across the road from us.
A handsome man jumped out, saying “Y’all need some help?”
Jim replied “No, we’re doing fine.” The man said “You must be on your way to church, bein’ all dressed up. It’ll just take me a minute. I used to do this for a living.”
Indeed, it only took him a short while before he was all finished and said “There you go.” He jumped in his truck and left.
We did learn that he was a hay broker who lived half the time in Craig, the other half of the year in Texas.
We realized that he had initially been going the same direction we were headed, and had turned the rig around to come back to help us.
He truly was a Good Samaritan, and we hope he has opportunity to read this. We are so grateful for his help.
