Taste of Chocolate will be held Saturday

Chocolate temptations will be featured at various Downtown businesses in conjunction with the Art Walk.

Competitors will prepare 100 small servings of their creation. This could be hot chocolate, cakes, cookies and candy - as long as the featured flavor is chocolate. Entry forms are available at The Kitchen Shop. Contestants need to be present to hand out samples.

The samples are to go to ticket holders only.

Ticket holders will be voting for their favorite chocolate. The winner will be announced Feb. 11 and will receive $100 in Downtown Bucks.

There is no entry fee. The competitor collecting the most votes will win $100.

Chocolate tasters will need to purchase a ticket at The Kitchen Shop and other downtown businesses. The tickets cost $10, and entitle you to a sample of each chocolate creation. The ticket also is your ballot. Ballot boxes will be located along the route. Candy boxes will be provided to ticket holders. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

Rotary Club seeking scholarship applications

The Craig Rotary Club is taking applications for an Ambassadorial Scholarship, which enables a student to study abroad for one year, while supporting the vision of Rotary International to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace.

During the study period, scholars are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country through numerous public appearances, according to a press release. After studying, scholars share their experience with people in their home country.

Applicants must have completed at least two years of university or college course work or must have a secondary school education and have been employed in a recognized vocation for at least two years when the scholarship begins. Applicants must be legal residents of Moffat County and have no Rotary familial connections.

The scholarship is for one academic year's study abroad at an institution assigned by The Rotary Foundation Trustees. It provides a flat grant of $23,000. Club-endorsed candidates will complete at the district level, and one scholarship will be awarded.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Craig Rotary Club no later than March 15. Successful applicants at the club level must attend an interview April 12 and 13 in Cheyenne, Wyo. To request an application and obtain further information, call Bill Muldoon at 970-824-7100.
