Craig Moffat County senior wrestler Josh Satterwhite knew something had to be done after teammate Lyle Schaffner was upset at 171 pounds.
With his team down, 24-12, to Hayden early in the two teams' dual, the 215-pounder knew Moffat County needed a win.
"I went out there, and I was going to get a win for the team," said Satterwhite, after Moffat County beat Hayden, 54-30. "Regardless if it be a three, four or six point win."
It turned out to be a pin and six-point win for Satterwhite, who pinned Hayden's Russell Waugh 1 minute, 7 seconds into the second period. The win keyed the Bulldogs who won six of the next seven matches after Satterwhite's victory.
Matt Kincheloe Cody Nelson, Cory Vigil and Jesse Breslin all picked up wins by pin. Asay Crofts, Charlie Griffiths and Nathan Tomlin won because of forfeit.
With a little more than two weeks left before the Bulldogs host the regional meet, Moffat County coach Roman Gutierrez said while there are still a lot of little mistakes costing the Bulldogs matches, he's happy with the progress his young team has made this season.
"This year, we've been taking a lot of baby steps," Gutierrez said. "Just putting one foot in front of the other one. We have such young kids. Hopefully they'll mature by the time we get to the regionals and do some good stuff for us."
