— The Colorado State Patrol received reports of a one-car fatal crash at 5:53 a.m. Wednesday on Colorado Highway 64 south of Dinosaur.

The incident occurred at Milepost 9, which is between Dinosaur and Rangely in Rio Blanco County.

A State Patrol news release states a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling eastbound when it took a right-hand curve too fast and slid off the road and down a "steep embankment."

The front seat passenger, Otoniel Salguero, of Roosevelt, Utah, was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected out of the rear window as the vehicle rolled down the hill.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rio Blanco County Coroner's Office.

The driver - Gilberto Salguero, of Price, Utah - and the rear seat passenger - Adan Medina, of Las Vegas - were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured, according to the release.

Law enforcement does not consider alcohol and drugs as factors in the incident, but the crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol's Accident Reconstruction Team.
