— The Club 20 Moffat County Caucus elected Craig City Councilor Ray Beck as the county's voting director at a special meeting Wednesday night.

Beck will fill the seat vacated by Moffat County Commissioner Saed Tayyara, who died Nov. 29.

As a voting board member, Beck will be able to weigh in on policy stances and amendments to existing policies. The board approves policies that come from 11 Club 20 committees.

All Club 20 members have voting privileges on the separate committees, which include such areas as agriculture and energy. They only have to show up to the meetings, Executive Director Reeves Brown said.

Audrey Danner, newly appointed to fill Tayyara's vacancy on the county commission, was elected as one of Moffat County's two alternate directors. Bob Johnson holds the other seat.

Tayyara also sat as the Region 11 vice chair on the Club 20 Executive Committee. Members of that panel handle executive duties for the club, such as paying bills.

Any resident of Region 11 - made up of Moffat, Rio Blanco, Garfield and Mesa counties - is eligible for the Executive Committee seat.

Brown said he is taking nominations for the position until Monday, after which each county's voting director and two alternate directors will vote on who takes the seat.
