To the editor:
There are still good people out there.
A mishap occurred the other day while at the eye doctor's office getting my daughter's glasses adjusted. My younger daughter tripped and caught the corner of her eye on a chair leg.
Thinking it was just a bruise, I went over to help her up and brush the tears away. However, when she moved her hand away I saw the gash and the blood. The office staff grabbed a paper towel for me and I realized that stitches might be needed. Another patient, Mary Ann, offered her help. She drove my daughters and myself to the emergency room. Now, I had a car and could of drove there, but it sure was nice to be able to hold my daughter and comfort her. On the way to the ER, we exchanged names and places of employment and realized that we knew each other in a round about way. Once we arrived at the ER, Mary Ann sat with my oldest daughter until a family friend arrived. I feel so blessed to live in a community where people are willing to lend a helping hand. I hope, given the opportunity, we all would reach out and help someone in a time of need.
Thanks, Mary Ann.
