Yampa Valley Chorus seeks new members

The Yampa Valley Chorus, a member of the Rocky Mountain Region 8 of Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members, as well as a skilled musician to be the group's new director.

The chorus, which has a 25-year history in the Yampa Valley, sings four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. It is an achievement-oriented chorus, consistently scoring at the "B" level and becoming Small Chorus Champions among Sweet Adelines choruses in the a region that includes Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Music education, vocal production and performance skills, for individual and ensemble singing, are a major focus of the chorus, which combines learning a cappella four-part harmony, performances and annual competition to create a musical hobby that is challenging and rewarding for women of all ages.

Rehearsals are from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays at Sunset Elementary School Music Room.
