9 a.m. Reading of the Royal Hours and decoration of the "kouvouklion" takes place at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 691 Green St. A light Lenten lunch will follow.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Salad Luncheon takes place at the VFW post, upstairs in the VFW Club. The cost is $6 a person. Call Mary Walters at 824-2923.

3 p.m. Great Vespers service takes place at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 691 Green St.

7 p.m. Singing of "The Lamentations" and Procession of the Epitaphios takes place at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 691 Green St.

7 to 9 p.m. Celebrate Recovery meets at First Baptist Church, 1150 W. Ninth St. The purpose of the group is to help people overcome hurts, habits and hang-ups in a safe environment. Live worship music and child care are provided. Latecomers are welcome. Call Caroline 620-0659.

9 a.m. Vespers and Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great takes place at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 691 Green St.

9 a.m. to noon The Ladies Mite Society hosts its annual Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale at First Christian Church, 960 W. Victory Way. Cinnamon rolls and coffee will also be sold. Call Sharon Elliott at 824-5604.

11:30 a.m. Reading of the Canon of the Lamentations of Holy Friday takes place at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 691 Green St.

1:30 to 3 p.m. Preserving the Last Frontier meets at Sunset Meadows I, 663 Ledford St. Shannan Koucherik, a local writer, will talk about writing history. Call 824-5343.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Winners for the first Cowboy/Western Poetry Contest are invited to read their works at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave. Light refreshments will be provided.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cowboy/Cowgirl Poetry reading takes place at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave. Call 824-5343.

5:30 to 8 p.m. The Moffat County Democratic Party hosts a friend raising/fundraising spaghetti dinner at the American Legion Post, 1055 County Road 7. Tickets can be purchased at Downtown Books and are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 to 12, $5 for seniors and children 3 and younger get in free. Call 824-5089.

Midnight to 3 a.m. An After Prom Party is being held at Thunder Rolls Bowling Alley. Games, prizes and breakfast are included. A student ID is required.

Sunday, April 27

1:30 p.m. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary bingo is at the VFW Hall, 419 E. Victory Way. The event is open to the public. Sunday bingo sessions occur every week. Call Mary Walters at 824-2923.
