Craig Fire/Rescue responded to a semi-tanker rollover Saturday morning in Hamilton Canyon.
The accident was reported about 11:55 a.m. at mile post 76 on Colorado Highway 13. The truck was hauling a tanker with about 11,000 gallons of water toward Craig.
Coming around a corner, the driver lost control of the vehicle, Captain Dennis Jones of the fire department reported.
The tanker went through a guardrail and rolled at least once before coming to rest in a ditch. The accident caused a breach in the tanker and portions of the water inside spilled, Jones said.
The accident was nonhazardous, requiring only one engine from the fire department, Jones said.
The driver was transported to The Memorial Hospital for treatment. Patient privacy laws prevented hospital officials from commenting on the driver's condition Sunday.
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident.
Tornado warning tests to take place Tuesday
On Tuesday morning, a statewide issuance of TEST Tornado Warnings will occur using NOAA Weather Radio transmitters broadcasting into Colorado counties. The exact time has not been scheduled.
These warnings also are intended to activate the EAS system throughout Colorado. Most radio and TV station engineers in western Colorado already are aware of this planned test.
This operation is coordinated with the state of Colorado during Colorado's annual Severe Weather Awareness Week and conducted once each year (in the spring) within Colorado to test short-fused warning communications.
