Craig Sasha Nelson
Occupation: Library assist, children services
What should your business card say you do? The core part of my job is to develop and then deliver children's stories and activities for the Moffat County Library's story time.
Place of birth: Born in Steamboat Springs, grew up in Craig.
When did you move to Moffat County and what brought you here? Family. I just returned last December from almost eight years in Australia.
Describe your morning routine: Jump out of bed and rush to get dressed. When I'm not here at the library until recently I would tumble out of bed and rush straight for the computer to work on my P.H.D. thesis.
Have you ever had a book change your life? What is it and why? Anne McCaffrey's "Dragon Singer." This is a science fiction book about a little girl. It was the first really adult book I was able to read and get through so that was a pretty exciting milestone, and also the subject matter gave me a lot of confidence that I wouldn't always be young and awkward.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A veterinarian.
If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you serve? I would probably serve Stroganoff. And one of the dinners I would love to have is a group of really powerful women, such as Oprah, Hilary Clinton, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was a women activist in Burma, and Golda Meir. And I'd want to talk about how they got there, what they were like as children and what motivates them to take such public roles even when they are going to be highly criticized.
What are three things you can't live without? Chocolate, books and my kitty cat.
Which superhero would you be? I think probably Catwoman.
What's the worst reason you've received/given for breaking up with someone? I had a boyfriend in middle school who gave meballoons - the school used to sell balloons and flowers for Valentine's day. I don't know, I didn't like the color or something - so I broke up with somebody for giving me a Valentine's gift.
