Steamboat Springs After providing another successful year of dialogues on public policy, Seminars at Steamboat realized it was missing something: help.
John Worthen, chairman of the Seminars at Steamboat Board of Directors, said the program, now in its fifth year, is looking to hire a part-time program director to develop programs, handle community outreach, fundraise, organize speakers and support volunteer efforts.
"The last few years have been so successful," he said. "We've been impressed with all the attendance and support we've gotten from the community for the series. It's obvious the community values the seminars."
As a result of experiencing healthy growth, the board decided it needed someone to coordinate efforts beyond what the board and volunteers could do, Worthen said.
"It turns out there is quite a bit of work it takes to put on the program each summer," he said. "We finally decided the volunteer effort and the efforts of our board has gotten to be a bit much."
Worthen said the board is looking for a contract employee with flexible hours who would work more during the summer than the winter. The ideal candidate has administrative skills and people skills, he said.

Interviews will begin after Jan. 1, he said. The position should be filled by late winter or early spring, he said.
Worthen said acquiring a program director will help the popular series continue to grow and provide compelling, timely discussions on national and global public policies.
"It's really a matter of being effective and efficient and doing a good job," he said.
