To the editor:
I am the Moffat County High School rodeo team sponsor.
We are in the process of organizing our High School Rodeo, which will be held at the Moffat County Fair Grounds on Sept. 22 and 23.
The kids on our team have been pounding the pavement since August, asking for donations.
This task is a huge undertaking considering the smaller numbers of our team and the increased expense of putting on a rodeo. High school kids from all across the state of Colorado will be competing here in Craig.
Livestock is trucked in from all over the state for bull riding, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding and break away roping.
There are only two events that do not require livestock and they are barrel racing and pole bending. We need to cover the cost of the judges, an announcer, (the most important) bull fighters and of course feed for all the livestock.
My point is that it is an enormous task. One that we cannot do with out the help of the people of this town and surrounding area. I was skeptical at first that we would be able to pull it off until I began to see everyone's response.
In fact, I am truly amazed by how incredibly generous everyone has been. As a business owner myself, I am aware of how many people are out there seeking money for their cause.
That is why I am writing; to tell everyone how grateful I am for your support and also to thank those who considered donating but just find they can't.
Again, the response from everyone has been extraordinary. I am truly blessed to live in this great town.
