Craig — Halloween is Wednesday and with that comes several festivities to keep both adults and children alike entertained.

For the adults, Mathers Bar and Grill, 420 Yampa Ave, J.W. Snacks, 210 E Victory Way, and Cassidy’s, located in the Holiday Inn of Craig at 300 Colorado St., are all having Halloween parties tonight, featuring music and costume contests starting at 9 p.m.

Baseball fans and ghouls alike could cross paths, as the Rockies first home game of the World Series also is today, starting at 6 p.m.

For children, there will be two options beyond the usual door-to-door fair.

The Downtown Business Association and the Centennial Mall are planning trick-or-treating events from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The DBA’s trick-or-treating spans from the 400 to the 600 blocks of Yampa Avenue and encompasses all of the businesses in that span, but if there is a question, signs should be posted in the windows.

“It’s a safe way to take your kids trick or treating,” said Christina Currie, executive director of the Craig Chamber of Commerce. “It’s truly a horde of kids.”

The Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way, also is a popular spot, with most of the business’ open to servicing the 12 and younger crowd looking for treats.

Vicki Hall, properties manager at the mall, said she alone gave between 1,200 to 1,500 pieces of candy last year.

“We get a lot of ghosts and goblins,” Hall said. “A lot of parents bring the little kids.”
