Letter to the editor:

As satisfied patients of Dr. Joel Miller, we are very sad to hear that we may be losing him.

He was so caring and gentle with our Mother and Grandmother, LaMar Richins, during her long illness and subsequent death. He cared for her at the Craig Medical Center, The Memorial Hospital, and Sandrock Ridge — always with great compassion.

Also, other members of our immediate family have always trusted him to provide our primary care in a professional, friendly and effective manner.

We will hope that if he is forced to leave Craig that he can locate close by in Steamboat Springs so we can continue to receive treatment from him.

Too often, we have lost valued doctors who practiced at the Craig Medical Clinic.

Ideally, it is our sincere wish that he (Dr. Miller) can remain in Craig, even if we have to travel to Steamboat Springs for hospital privileges.

It is our wish that as many people as can will join us in contacting the Yampa Valley Medical Center, Attention: Medical Staff Office in support of his application for hospital privileges in Steamboat. Otherwise, if he moves to Grand Junction, the distance is too far to travel for many of us in dire need of his services.
