Sports briefs for May 29

Bulldogs named to all-conference team

Five members of the Moffat County High School boys swim team were recognized for academic and athletic achievements.

Boys swimming is different than other sports in that all-conference selections are based on maintaining a grade point average higher than 3.3 in addition to their accomplishments in the pool.

Senior Trenton Taylor, juniors Andrew Aultman and Kyle Steitz and sophomore Cole Worsley were selected to the first-team.

Senior Donny Penner was chosen as an honorable mention.

Student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.6 and earn their letter to qualify for first-team honors.

Honorable mention is for GPAs between 3.3 and 3.59.

Taylor was also honored as the team's most improved swimmer.

Worsley and Taylor represented the Bulldogs as team captains.

All in the family

Cole Worsley established two new MCHS pool records that formerly belonged to older brother Blake, currently a swimmer at the University of Denver.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Cole swam a 22.13 seconds and a 48.02 in the 100.

Blake's 2005 marks were 22.24 and 48.4, respectively.
