Veterans Hotline: Town meeting for vet clinic

The VA has announced there will be a town meeting in Craig regarding the proposed veterans clinic.

The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the American Legion Post on County Road 7.

All veterans, veteran service officers and persons interested in the clinic project for Northwest Colorado are invited to attend. Specific invitations will be sent directly to the major proponents for this project.

All veteran service organizations and county officials from the four counties around Craig are asked to send representatives.

The local VSOs and VA staff will be making contact with veteran and governmental entities. More information will follow in this column until the 18th and various news releases for newspapers and radio.

Property tax

exemptions

Property tax exemption applications are at my office and need to be completed by June 1. If you are a 100 percent service-connected disabled veteran, total and permanent rating, get in touch with me for this benefit approved by voters last November.

Moving wall

The moving Vietnam wall will arrive in Craig this fall, Aug. 8 through Aug.12.

The steering committee is meeting regularly to set up all the details. If you are interested in assisting, in any way, contact this office or members of the committee.

Committee members are: Charley Watkins (VFW), George Rohrich (The Memorial Hospital), Christine Currie (Craig Chamber of Chamber), Jim Ferree (city of Craig), Tim Jantz (Moffat County Sheriff's Office) and John Husband (BLM). There also is an email address, thewall@tmhcraig.org
