Richard Wayne Langley was born April 10, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Richard D. and Lou (Jones) Langley. Richard was raised in Denver and Northwestern Colorado, and attended high school in Craig, graduating from Moffat County High School in 1979.
Richard joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after high school, and while stationed in Hawaii he met Kelly Jean Little, and they were married May 7, 1983, in Honolulu, Hawaii. To this union two children were born, Heather and Matthew.
Richard spent much of his career at the Cherry Point, North Carolina Marine Base, and he and his family have been residents of Havelock, N.C. since 1988.
Richard retired from the Marine Corps in 2001 and has worked as a Quality Control Specialist for an Aviation Fuel Company since that time.
Richard was a member of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the VFW. He enjoyed riding his goldwing and woodworking.
He died April 22, 2007, in Newton, Miss., while on a work assignment with his company.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly J. Langley of Havelock, N.C.; daughter Heather and her husband Christopher Monaco of Newport, N.C.; son Matthew Langley of Havelock, N.C.; Grandson -- Christopher Scott Monaco, Newport, N.C.; mother Lou Crowe of Norman, Okla.; stepfather Harley Guess of Maybell; sister Pam Zummach of Maybell; half sister Tracey Langley-Cottrell; step sisters Joyce Harper, Jody Guess and Stacey Langley; step brothers Hap Harper, Will Harper, Billy Guess and Brandon Langley; and nephew Jessie Guess.
His father, Richard D. Langley, and a half brother, Glenn Guess, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Grant Mortuary Chapel in Craig, with Pastor Rod Compton officiating.
