Three Bulldog girls named to Western Slope All-Conference team, two earn honorable mentions

The Moffat County High School girls basketball players excelled in both areas of the student-athlete title in the 2006-07 season.

Three Bulldogs were named to the Western Slope All-Conference team, and two others were nominated as honorable mentions.

Senior Cayla Maneotis and juniors Angela Charchalis and Markie Workman represented MCHS on the All-Conference team, while senior Ashleigh Mann and junior Jorgiea Raftopoulos were highlighted as honorable mentions.

In the classroom, five Bulldogs earned individual academic All-State honors first-team recognition, and three other were placed on the honorable mention list.

Members of the first team include Charchalis, Eddie Hutton, MacKenzie Maneotis, Desirae Pearcey and Raftopoulos --ll juniors.

The honorable mentions include Cayla Maneotis, Mann and junior Amy Dilldine.

To qualify for first-team academic honors, student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.6 grade point average, be either a junior or senior in academic standing and must be a letter winner or equivalent.

The only difference between first-team and honorable mention honors is the latter requires a GPA between 3.3 and 3.59.
