An estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people from Craig and the surrounding communities flocked to be a part of the Whittle the Wood Rendezvous on Saturday at Craig City Park.
Pennie Bricker, Craig Parks and Recreation administrative technician, said it was probably the most people who ever came out for the event.
"Every year, it gets a little bit bigger," she said.
The reason for this?
Word of mouth.
"More people come out and find out what a good time it is," Bricker said.
John Clay took first place in the critic's choice carving competition with "Seventh Chief." Forest Dorman took second place with "My Serenity," and Rick Burges finished in third with his carving, "Cliff Hanger."
Faye Braaten was the people's choice with "Moonlight Madness," a carving depicting two wolves howling into the air.
Clay also was the artists' choice for best sculpture.
More than artist work, Whittle the Wood had several booths and vendors, as well band performances throughout.

Did the Moffat County School Board make the right decision in replacing MCHS athletic director Rick Penner, who had been considered missing after not being heard from for about a week?
