Briefs for June 16

Community Voices forum on June 18

Community Voices, a celebration and dialogue about bringing immigrants, newcomers and locals together, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at the Steamboat Springs High School and at 6 p.m. Monday, June 18 at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig.

Immigrant neighbors, refugees families and existing community members are all invited to come together to enjoy dinner, music, and conversation. The information from this forum will be used to create a community integration plan that will receive guaranteed funding for the next four years. According to a press release, community input "is critical to create programs and activities that fit our communities' needs." Call 846-5521 for more information.

Elkhead Reservoir water level down

The level of water in Elkhead Reservoir has been lowered two feet for the Colorado River Water Conservation District to study the replacement of wetlands that were lost to the increased size of the reservoir. Studies are occurring on the north end of the lake where Elkhead Creek enters the reservoir and the previous wetlands were flooded by raising the dam's height.
