Waylon William Owens-Plantiko
Waylon William Owens-Plantiko, 28, passed away Jun. 1, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Craig.
He was born in Craig on April 25, 1979, at The Memorial Hospital to Frank Leroy and Doris Jean (Burns) Owens.
He attended school in the Moffat County School District and received his general education diploma. Waylon worked a variety of jobs in his brief life.
Among them he was a cook, a dry waller and a laborer in the construction industry. His passions in life were his family, his many friends, and wrestling, shooting pool and playing poker.
He recently was certified in deep water rescue. He came to know the Lord during his living years.
Our beloved Waylon is survived by his two children, daughter Tianna Marley and son Tavian Walker Owens of Placentia, Calif.; their mother Christine Schramek also of Placentia; loving mother Jean Plantiko and stepfather Kenneth Thompson of Craig; father Frank Owens of Duenwig, Miss.; sisters Jennie (Anthony) Delgado and Natashia Johnston of Craig; brothers Kearney (Laurie) Pipkin of Rosebud, Texas and Dustin (Tracy) Workman of Haley, Idaho; aunts Vicky Schenk, Dena (Roy) Butler, and Debbie (Carl) Gross of Craig; uncle David (Vicki) Burns of Craig.
His grandfather, Harold Burns, preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his many surviving cousins, nieces, nephews and family too numerous to list.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Leonard Browning officiating. Services included the song selections "Simple Man," "Free Bird" and "Momma I'm Coming Home." Cremation followed the services.
