Energy companies keep land open for hunters
Working with the Colorado Division of Wildlife, EnCana and Shell have agreed to keep several large privately owned parcels open for public hunting in the Piceance Creek area.
Separate agreements with the DOW will allow hunting to continue on private land owned by the companies.
The one-year EnCana agreement allows hunters on 17,000 acres located on the Roan Plateau during the 2007 big game hunting season. Access to property owned by Shell is maintained through a 10-year agreement between Shell and the DOW reached in 2006.
The agreement leases 19,000 acres of land to the DOW for hunting access at $1 per year.
For more information call the DOW Meeker office at 970-878-6090.
