The level of water in Elkhead Reservoir has been lowered by 2 feet for the Colorado River Water Conservation District to study the replacement of wetlands that were lost to the increased size of the reservoir. Studies are occurring on the north end of the lake where Elkhead Creek enters the reservoir and the previous wetlands were flooded by raising the dam's height.
