To the editor:
I have lived in this awesome community about two years.
Last evening (Monday) I was privileged to attend a meeting with the Humane Society group.
I am rather amazed at the lack of support they receive.
Of course they do have some supporters and for those they are grateful.
One of their fundraisers is coming up with a yard sale July 28.
They need donations for that.
And another fundraiser is the calendar.
So far, they have only received 24 photos and more are needed.
July 15 is the deadline for photos.
As some folks may know, an opportunity to vote on the favorite 12 is given at the fair.
They should be digital photos and e-mailed to HSMC_2008@yahoo.com.
There are some specifics, but it is easy to call 870-7500 for more information on either of these events.
They do such amazing work in our community assisting with the animals at the shelter, as well as working with the community to provide other services.
These are a group of devoted animal lovers and advocates for the humane treatment of the animals.
I think most people love animals or at least want them to be treated well.
If you are interested in this group, give a call for details.
Several of the key members are moving away this summer, and more friends to our furry friends are needed.
