Jennie L. Scott passed away at her home near Craig on January 22, 2007.
Jennie was born December 20, 1923 to Clarence O. and Elizabeth Farrell Barber on her parents ranch near Maybell. She spent her early childhood attending school in Maybell. After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Craig, where she attended school. Due to an early marriage and the second World War, she wasn't able to finish school. She moved to California with her first husband, Quentin Hood. This marriage later ended in divorce.
Jennie returned to Craig and went to work for Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company, where she worked for about 12 years. Jennie married Dale H. Talkington in 1946; Dale preceded her in death in 1970. Jennie also worked for Miller Auto Parts for a number of years.
Jennie married John E. Scott on December 30, 1970. They built a beautiful home near Craig on County Road 7 where they resided for 35 years. After John retired from ranching, they spent their winters in Bull Head City, Ariz., and the summers at their home near Craig.
Jennie was an accomplished musician, playing the accordion, piano and organ. During her early years, she was active accompanying her brothers George, Pete and family friends Sam Steele and Alva Solace while playing social gatherings and dances. She loved music, dancing, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, brothers Ole and George.
Jennie is survived by her husband, John Scott, of Craig; brother Pete Barber, of Rigby, Idaho, brother in law Roy (Cora) Scott, of Craig, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
