George Rohrich, chief executive officer of The Memorial Hospital, was recently awarded fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives, known as ACHE, the hospital released last week.
ACHE is an international professional society representing nearly 30,000 health care executives.
The organization announced Rohrich's fellow designation at its recent annual Congress on Healthcare Management.
Fellow status is the highest level of professional achievement in ACHE. About 3,000 health care executives in the nation hold the distinction.
Rohrich is the first CEO at TMH to earn the fellow status.
To obtain fellow status, candidates must demonstrate their education, experience and leadership in the health care field over several years. They must also complete a significant project on health care-related management.
Rohrich may now use the letters FACHE after his name, signifying he is an ACHE fellow.
To celebrate Rohrich's achievement, TMH is hosting the Craig Chamber of Commerce from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the hospital, 785 Russell St.
Tax deadline is April 17
Taxpayers have until April 17 to file their 2006 returns and pay any taxes due, the Internal Revenue Service announced last week.
Taxpayers have extra time to file and pay because April 15 falls on a Sunday in 2007, and the following day, April 16, is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia.
For more information on filing your taxes, visit www.irs.gov.
