Weekend wrap: Activities fill Saturday's schedule


Diamonds & Spurs

The Craig Rotary Club's annual fundraising event, Diamonds & Spurs, starts at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The gathering begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing through midnight. A cash bar will be available.

Timeless Catering of Meeker will serve crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, herb crusted prime rib, Danish chicken, loaded smashed potatoes, a dinner salad and vegetables. Dessert choices include turtle cheesecake, orange chocolate cheesecake and death by chocolate.

Diamonds & Spurs also includes a raffle for an amethyst necklace valued at $1,500, donated by Kester Jewelry. Raffle tickets are $10 each.

Diamonds & Spurs tickets are $60 per person. Tickets are still available by calling Elk Run Inn at 826-4444 or visiting 627 W. Victory Way. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Community Talent Concert auditions

Auditions for the Craig Concert Association's Community Talent Concert are scheduled for this weekend.

Auditions run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Moffat County High School auditorium, 900 Finley Lane.

Performers may perform at the try-outs or bring in a recording of themselves.

The free talent concert is scheduled for April 1. Organizers will decide if groups can perform more than once based on how many performers audition.

Poetry reading

The Craig Poets hosts a poetry reading from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave.

Craig Poets David Morris, Jean Tucker, Joyce Phillips, Cheryl Miller, Rozella Bobson and Jane Yazzi will share their poetry.

Morris and Tucker will also have copies of their books available for sale. It is free to attend.

Light refreshments will be provided for those who attend. Call Downtown Books at 824-5343 for more information about the group or poetry reading.
