Alla N. Brown

Alla Nell Brown was born in Seminoe County, Okla., near Tulsa on March 27, 1915. She passed away in 2007.

One of seven children, Alla spent most of her early years in the southern states of Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma. Her family moved to Colorado in the early 1940s, when her brothers found work around Denver.

She attended Denver Opportunity School and trained to be a beautician, but an injury to her back did not allow her to pursue the profession.

She loved children and worked as a nanny and childcare worker for several years. Although she never married or had children of her own, Alla was a large part of her extended families' lives and will be greatly missed.

Her loving heart and generosity was felt by every child she came across.

One of her life's focuses was to bring the work and word of the Lord into the lives of her family. Quite diligent in this pursuit, she could be quite outspoken in her manner if she felt the need, but that side of her was very seldom seen.

Usually the true Southern lady, there was however, a stubborn Brown temperament that would show up now and again. Her subtle ways and generous nature nourished and encouraged everyone whose life she touched.

Preceded in death by her parents, Caem Brown and Lona Tidwell Brown, she was also the last of the siblings to go to the Lord. Her siblings were Burvie Brown, Phoebe Brown, Lottie Brown, Purvis Brown, Murvie Brown and Ruth Brown Madison.

Also preceding her in death was her nephew Andrew Brown; great niece Stacie Southard; and Stacie's daughter Hollie Guice.

Alla will be greatly missed by her surviving family, which includes nephew Wendell and his wife Sheila Brown of Little Rock, Ark. and their children, Aaron and Samantha; niece Judith and her husband Roy Southard of Craig and their son Jeff Southard, as well as Jeff's children, Dominic Southard, Ricky Southard and Theodora Bowles; great niece Amber Southard and great nephew Sean Southard, all of Craig; niece Jane and her husband Hal Glanville of Craig and Jane's oldest son, Jaceson and his wife Michelle VanGrandt of Craig -- and their children, Jennifer Miller of Montrose, Haley, Sarah, Airoughn, and Maddisyn VanGrandt of Craig -- and Jane's youngest son Justin and his wife Vick) Gallegos of Craig and their children, Trey Gallegos and Heath Earle of Craig and Colton Fryer of Utah.

A true servant of the Lord, she was always prayerfully thinking of those she loved and wanted only blessings and peace for all of her family and friends.

Embracing life and all that was in it, she had a quick wit and great sense of humor. She experienced many losses in her lifetime through death and distancing, but she forgave and continued to love without malice, continued to pray for all and probably is still watching over all the children she loved so much.
