Craig Veterinary Hospital has a new face.
Veterinarian John Kuck joined the practice two weeks ago. This is his first veterinary medicine position.
Kuck, 32, recently completed his clinical training at Colorado State University. He finished his pre-clinical sciences at Ross University in New Jersey, and spent some time in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
He has also attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio on a football scholarship and Metropolitan State College of Denver.
After a stint in the finance field, Kuck decided on this second career.
He and his wife, Kristen, live in Craig with their three dogs. Kristen, a Carbondale native, is a part-time veterinary nurse at Craig Veterinary Hospital. She is studying business at Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
Kuck was raised in New Knoxville, Ohio, a village of about 900 people, so small town living is familiar to him.
"I'm not a big city guy," Kuck said.
He said he is settling into Craig easily.
"I love it," Kuck said. "Everybody's been really great. But I could do without the 30 below (temperatures)."
