A small group from First Baptist Church offers a free car care clinic for single mothers, senior citizens and those who are disabled at the church, 1150 W. Ninth St. Volunteers check fluids and top them off, test antifreeze, check and fill tires, check lights, horn and wipers and arrange for discounted repairs and oil changes as needed. 9 a.m. to noon. The Veterans of Foreign Wars' "Just Say No" coloring contest is upstairs at the VFW hall, 419 E. Victory Way. The coloring contest is open to students in first through fourth grades. The poster contest is open to students in fifth through eighth grades. Coloring supplies are provided, or students may bring their own. Call Dora at 824-2251.

10 a.m. Snocross racing begins at Hayden Speedway. The public is welcome.

6 to 7 p.m. The Colorado State University Moffat County Cooperative Extension Office encourages Northwest Colorado residents to test their homes for radon and mitigate if high levels are found. In partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, a radon education grant has been awarded to Northwest Colorado to provide free radon test kits to residents. A program is scheduled for Jan. 24 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Moffat County Extension Office, 539 Barclay St. A light dinner will be provided. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tryouts for the Craig Concert Association's Local Talent Concert takes place at the Moffat County High School auditorium. The Local Talent Concert is scheduled for April 1 at the MCHS auditorium. Call Jim Simpson at 824-4138.

7 p.m. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is performed by Class Act Productions of Hayden at the Hayden High School auditorium, 495 W. Jefferson Ave. Contributions of $5 per adult and teens, $3 students 6 to 12 years old, and children and seniors 65 and older are free.

Saturday, Feb. 3

6:30 p.m. Yampa Valley Sweet Adelines present "Hallelujahs in Harmony," an evening of Gospel-style music, with guest quartet Deja Vu, at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane. A silent auction starts at 6:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 7:30 p.m.

5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The 12th Annual Downtown Craig Art Walk will showcase local artists' work and hold a fundraiser for the CNCC pottery program. Participating artists and business page a $35 registration fee. The first 100 ticket buyers can taste and vote for their favorite chocolate in the "Taste of Chocolate" competition.
