Daily Press sets state record again

Staff report

Last year, the Craig Daily Press set a new state standard by bringing home 44 awards from the Colorado Press Association Convention.

The Daily Press raised the bar even higher this year, winning 51 awards Saturday night for its coverage of the 2005-06 year at this year's convention, held in Denver.

Major awards the Daily Press won in its division -- daily papers with a circulation of 7,500 or less -- include: the General Excellence Award, the Advertising Sweepstakes Award, and the Layout and Photography Sweepstakes Award.

"This is amazing," Daily Press Publisher Bryce Jacobson said. "It's always an honor to be recognized by your peers. This is an incredible staff, editorial and advertising. But as I've said before, we don't judge this paper on awards. We judge it on the content and how we serve our community."
