Thanks for making Hoops Shoot a success
The Craig Elk's Lodge had the privilege of hosting the national district Hoops Shoot.
We want to thank those who helped make a go of it, including Travelers Inn and Super 8 for the rooms and Don Davidson for the use of the Craig Intermediate School gym.
We are proud to have four (Craig) winners going to the state competition in Salida on Feb. 24. In the boys age 12 to 13 bracket was Paul Laliberte, 12 to 13 girls, Chanda Walker; 10 to 11 girls, Molly Nations; and 8 to 9 girls, Hanna Walker.
We had an award luncheon at the lodge, and I want to thank those who helped, including Dick and Brad for Lay's chips, Fonda Crockett for buns, Bill Fry for helping me make the sloppy-joes, and all those who helped serve, Vi, Dotty, Fonda, Della, Denise, Nora and Bill.
Thank you for all the help. Also thanks to the EMTs for being there.
There are nine lodges within the district, and each lodge has six winners to compete for first place at the state competition.
Lodges are located in Aspen, Leadville, Rifle, Rangely, Gunnison, Salida, Glenwood Springs, Summit County and Craig.
