Fredrick W. "Fred" Siebott was born May 10, 1920, in Grand Junction to Henry and Elsie (Klein) Siebott.

He was raised and attended school in Grand Junction. Following graduation from high school, Fred attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for three years.

Fred entered the U.S. Army on August 5, 1942, and served in many places in the Mediterranean Theater until his discharge on March 26, 1946.He had attained the rank of captain.

After the service, Fred returned to Grand Junction and later moved to Craig, where he entered the hardware business with his father and also owned other buildings next to the hardware store. Fred married Avice Engleman Hamilton on July 7, 1952, in Craig. He remained active in the hardware business until a fire destroyed their building.

He then worked in the warehouse at the power plant for several years, and for Cook Chevrolet shuffling cars between dealerships. He also was the maintenance man for the building at 555 Breeze St., which he and his son Greg had built.

Fred enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting and was a member of the Craig Kiwanis Club, the Masonic Lodge,he Northwest Colorado Shrine Club and was a founder of the local Demolay Chapter. He was also instrumental in the building of the Craig Municipal Swimming Pool.

Fred died on Jan. 30, 2007, at the Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center where he had resided for the past several months.

He is survived by his sons Gregory and his wife Jane Hamilton of Craig, and Jeff and his wife Paula Hamilton of McCoy, Colo.; grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Ann Marie, Noelle, Nikole and Ian; great grandchildren, Tucker, Tyler, Zane, Matthew, Alex Marie, Halle, Aubrie, McKenna, Hannah, Emilie, Luke, Brooke and Abby; as well as numerous other relatives from his wife Avice's family.

His parents and his wife Avice preceded Fred in death.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2006, at The Grant Mortuary Chapel with Leonard Robertson officiating.Elaine DeuPree was the organist and accompanied Joyce Miller as she sang "Amazing Grace" and "You Are Mine."Pallbearers were Brian and Eric Hamilton, Lee Tucker, Albert Shepherd, Doug Wellman and Marvin Pearson. Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery with Officers of Yampa Lodge No. 88 AF&AM officiating, and Military Honors were rendered by Officers of VFW Post No. 4265.
