Steamboat Springs The 62-year-old man who died in his hunting cabin north of Hayden Saturday night has been identified as Jack Kelly of Craig. Kelly died of natural causes while on a snowmobile trip with a female friend near Quaker Mountain.
Routt County Search and Rescue workers endured sub-zero temperatures and a 13-mile snowmobile ride from Routt County Road 80 Saturday night to the recover Kelly's body, after his friend found him collapsed in the cabin and called 911.
"He had a bad heart," Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said, noting Kelly had a preexisting chronic heart condition that contributed to his death.
Sheriff's Office Investigator Mike Curzon determined that nothing about Kelly's death seemed suspicious, Ryg said.
