Walker faced misdemeanors and felonies in 4 cases

Prosecutors and a Craig woman charged with a litany of criminal offenses finalized a plea agreement Tuesday afternoon in Moffat County District Court.
Erin June Walker faced charges including misdemeanors, traffic offenses and felonies in four cases.
Charges included possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to yield right of way, violations of a protection order and bail bond conditions, domestic violence/harassment and attempted distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance.
On Tuesday, Walker appeared before Michael O’Hara, chief judge of the 14th Judicial District, with her attorney, public defender Sheryl Uhlmann, for a sentencing hearing.
In September, Walker pleaded guilty to attempted distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance, a felony, and domestic violence/harassment, a misdemeanor. Other charges were dismissed, under terms of the plea agreement.
Walker was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay roughly $5,500 in fines.
Walker has gotten into drug treatment and had a child two months ago, Uhlmann told Judge O’Hara. She is trying to turn her life around, Uhlmann said.
“She understands she has to remain drug free,” the public defender said. “I think she has her priorities straight.”
Judge O’Hara said Walker being a parent wasn’t a big influence on him. The fact that she has no prior criminal record played a bigger role, the judge said.
“As far as I’m concerned … (having a child) isn’t really something that motivates me on sentencing,” O’Hara said, adding that she should be treated the same as anyone else.
“It doesn’t excuse past behavior,” he said.
The judge ultimately sided with pre-sentencing recommendations regarding Walker. He warned the defendant that hanging around past acquaintances would result in her again running afoul of the law, and that she needed to remain on track with treatment.
“I hope all of this is genuine … and you’re on your way to recovery,” O’Hara said.
Walker’s driver’s license was also revoked for three months, and she will be required to spend seven days in jail beginning Dec. 14.
“On behalf of the community, I hope she has changed,” Brett Barkey, Moffat County chief deputy district attorney, told the court.

Okay-she got 3 years probation-so what? There were 4 felonies! What happened to them. She apparently was using drugs-paper says she is in drug treatment-was she using while pregnant? What has that done to a little two month old baby? I can just shake my head in disgust. She will probably get the child back-how disgusting. Makes me sick. With that kind of justice, the confession in the murder case will probably be thrown out and it won't even go to trial. Where did Ms. Roesink get her degree to practice law? Don't let any of your kids go there!
