'Amazing how much talent there is'

Local talent contest on Sunday at high school

— Shocked might not be the right word for it.

Surprised, according to Julie Dempster, would be more accurate.

That is what Dempster, the publicity chairwoman for the Craig Concert Association, thinks attendees will feel during Sunday's Local Talent Contest at Moffat County High School.

"You will be surprised at how many talented people we have here in Craig," Dempster said. "It really is amazing how much talent there is."

The concert, which begins at 2 p.m. and is free to the public, features vocal, instrumental and rock 'n' roll talent. Soloists, family groups and organized groups will perform traditional, popular and original music, sprinkled with some holiday fare.

The show is sponsored by the Craig Concert Association. Performers include the following:

Family vocal group: Javen, Reilley and Brooke Gumber; piano by Sonja Gumber

Piano 4-hand duet: Andrew Aultman and Meghan Francone; song arranged by Andrew Aultman

Vocals: Sonja Gumber with piano; Francisco Rein with guitar (folk songs from Mexico); 9-year-old Silas Canto with electric guitar; Bob LaFord with guitar; Bridget Manley with guitar; Brian Ghirardelli with guitar; Steve Ghirardelli with guitar; Sean Teets with piano by Julia Foster; Irene Losolla, Alexis Losolla and John Lawton.

Instrumentals: classical guitar with Jim Vorhies and Jim Simpson; violin solo with Hannah Kirk with piano played by Marianna Rice; violin solo with Tyler Gerber with piano played by Marianna Rice; violins and guitar with Hannah Kirk, Tyler Gerber and Kearn Gerber with piano played by Marianna Rice.

Andrew Aultman instrumental arrangement for winds, strings and percussion includes Sandra Kruczek on violin, Maybelle Chotvacs on violin; Dorcas Albaugh on flute, Mike Martin on violin; John Bolton on saxophone, Jim Simpson on viola; Mary Karen Solomon on cello, Andrew Aultman playing percussion; Sarah Bolton playing percussion; Ryan Gerber playing percussion; and Amarie Chadwick playing percussion.

Rock & Roll instrumental includes Brian Ghirardelli on vocal and guitar, Richard Foster on bass and Andy Cole on drums.

Choirs include: Sweet Adelines with Denise Whitney as director Home Town Harmony with Charleah Firestone, Brenda Hershiser, Carol Buchanan, and Beth Gilchrist; Moffat County High School Jazz Choir with director Sean Teets, Frank Archuleta, Kaleigh Cutler, Emily Hepworth Emma Attolini, Katherine Dodd, Jair Jurado, Melody Butler, Logan Foster, Daniel McClellan, Noraly Cazares, James Hebert, Jesse Montoya, Challyn Pfifer and Tanya Rinehart, and piano by Julia Foster; Sunrise Singers with directory Denise Whitney, piano by Meghan Francone about 40 students from the Sunset Elementary School fourth-grade choir.

Pre-concert music is by Yampa Valley Brass, whose members include Jim Simpson, Craig Smith, Janele Husband, Ole Olsen, Mike Martin and Randy Kline.

Intermission music by Cedar Mountain Ensemble, whose members include Sandra Kruczek, Maybelle Chotvacs, Dorcas Albaugh, Mike Martin, Mary Karen Solomon, Jim Simpson and Marianna Rice.
