Craig U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar will meet with all interested vets from 10 a.m. to noon at the Craig VFW Post 4265 Headquarters.
The Craig VFW is located at 419 E. Victory Way, next to the City Park and will be held upstairs in the Bingo hall. Plans are for all veterans or their family members to address the senator via microphone so that all present can hear the questions, as well as the replies from the senator.
Craig Vet clinic
There still is no official news release from the VA or VAMC Grand Junction. As soon as there is, I will address this issue. I have heard rumors of people saying they are hired and hours of operation are … something.
After discussions this week with the representative in charge of the project and the clinic’s opening, none of them are true. When the real information is to be published, I will do it in this column. The success of the clinic and its growth into a full-time facility now is dependant on us local vets.
“Local vet visits” will determine the clinic becoming a full community-based outpatient facility (clinic).
CBOC. If we don’t use it, we can lose it.
Vietnam Moving Wall
The steering committee met on Aug. 21 to finalize the project and to pay all the bills.
Most of the materials left over and photo documentation will be donated to local museums to record the community’s participation with this event. If you have items you wish to include in this record of local history contact my office or the Chamber.
