History meeting scheduled for Saturday

DOW public meeting on elk herds

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is interested in hearing from the public about management of two elk herds in Northwest Colorado.

A planning meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Moffat County Fairgrounds pavilion, 640 East Victory Way.

Public input is critical for revising the Data Analysis Unit that plan population objectives and set goals for male to female ratios within the populations.

Units that cover the Bear’s Ears herd will be discussed between 6 and 7 p.m., with the Cold Spring/Douglas Mountain herd units under discussion between 7 and 8 p.m.

The Bear’s Ears herd is the second largest migratory herd in North America, and the Cold Spring/Douglas mountain herd is a quality unit with some of the most sought after tags in Colorado.

REPS to host fundraiser Aug. 24, 25

The suicide intervention and prevention group, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide, will host a fundraiser Aug. 24 and 25 in Steamboat Springs.

The fundraiser event is a comedy mystery dinner theater, beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night, at Rex’s American Grill and Bar at the Holiday Inn, 3190 S. Lincoln Ave.

The fundraiser is a benefit to continue provided services in the Yampa Valley. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are free.

Tickets to the event cost $75 per person.
