Looking for local talent

— The Craig Concert Association is inviting musicians, singers and dancers to tryout for the Local Talent Concert.

The tryouts are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Moffat County High School auditorium. They are on a first come, first serve basis. Tryouts should be 3 to 5 minutes long.

Submit a tape or CD before Sept. 8 if you are unable to make the tryouts.

The Local Talent Concert is scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the high school auditorium. Call Jim Simpson at 824-4138 for more information.

Bald eagle removed from endangered species list

The bald eagle was officially taken off the endangered and threatened species list Wednesday.

The bald eagle population was as low as 400 pairs in the lower 48 states in 1963, but has rebounded to more than 10,000 pairs in 2007.

The bald eagle remains protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Suicide prevention workshop upcoming

A training workshop designed to give participants knowledge and skills to help and intervene with someone they fear is at risk for suicide and depression is scheduled for Aug. 13 to 14.

The Gatekeeper Training Work Shop is scheduled to run form 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the two-day workshop at the Yampa River State Park Visitor Center, 17 miles east of Craig on U.S. Highway 40. Lunch will be provided.

Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide is putting on the training. Pre-registration is required. There is no cost.
