Ty and Amanda Ott are offering commonplace items in an uncommon way.
The couple launches its Money Savers Web site April 4 and is ready to invite the public to a launch open house.
The open house runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at 2015 A. St. There, personal care products offered through the Web site, http://moneysavers.wwdb.biz, will be available for trial.
The Web site offers home, health and beauty product lines. Many products are offered in bulk amounts.
"The object is to figure out how much you'll buy on a monthly basis and save money that way," Amanda Ott said.
She said the site can reduce or eliminate visits to the grocery store, creating more time for recreation or playing with children, through its Ditto program.
Through the program, customers can automatically have items sent to their homes on a regular basis.
"We're tying to help people save time, save money and help them complete whatever their goals are," Amanda Ott said.
Since the couple owns the site, it's a local business. The couple can help customers with orders or show them a catalog if they prefer that format to the Internet.
"You're supporting me and my family," Amanda Ott said. "They'll be offered that personal service."
The company offers free shipping on orders of more than $75 and a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee on its products.
"We want to keep the customer happy," she said.
For more information on the Web site or Friday's open house, call Amanda Ott at 629-5912.
Center offering
microdermabrasions
Students at Colorado North--western Community College's cosmetology center, 1280 Industrial Ave., now are offering microdermabrasion services.
Tracy Caddy, cosmetology program director, said the process uses a hand-held device with aluminum oxide crystals in it. Micrdermabrasion removes the top layer of skin, allowing skin cells below to regenerate faster.
"It will help with fine lines, dark spots and acne," Caddy said. "It's what they call the 'lunchtime facial.' You can have it and put your makeup back on and go to work."
Caddy said the process leaves skin soft and smooth.
"It's just a total different feel to your skin," she said.
The process can be a little intimidating, however.
"It's kind of like sandblasting your face. It feels like a cat licking it," Caddy said. But, "It is not invasive. It doesn't make you bleed."
Caddy said she's excited to be the only location in Craig to offer the service and only school on the Western Slope to teach the process.
To perform microdermabrasions, Caddy said licensed estheticians or cosmetology/esthetician students must complete 16 hours of certification.
"We're real excited to have it," Caddy said.
The center is offering a special rate of $15 for microdermabrasions through the month of May, as well as a rate of $35 when completed with a facial.
