Sports briefs for April 17

Local junior golfers to learn from professionals

Local junior golfers looking to learn the sport of golf will soon have their day with Yampa Valley Golf Course professionals.

Ann Marie Hamilton and Brett Etzler, YVGC Class A Golf Professionals, are hosting opening day April 21 in addition to junior camps for ages 5 to 17.

Saturday's free activities include prizes, contests and a club swap.

"We haven't worked out the details yet but are hoping that if they have a set of clubs that are too small, they can exchange them for a different size," Hamilton said.

Etzler and Hamilton also are hosting junior camps, beginning in late May.

Camp dates are: ages 13 to 17 May 31 to June 1, ages 5 to 9 June 4 to 5, and 10- to 13-year-olds June 7 to 8.

All camps are from 8 to 11 a.m. and cost $40.

Those interested may call either Etzler or Hamilton at YVGC at 824-3673.

The fee is $15 per wrestler, and those interested may contact Bingham at 824-1741.
