Area briefs for April 12

The city of Craig, Moffat County and the United Way will be celebrating National Volunteer Week by hosting the annual volunteer barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds picnic shelter if the weather cooperates, and in the Pavilion if it rains.

Invitations have been sent out to the numerous volunteers who helped by being members on various boards, 4-H projects and and have worked the county fair.

Committee offers rewards for clean-up

The Craig Beautification Committee is offering prizes -- including $25 gift certificates to local businesses -- for anyone who submits before and after pictures of their property or storefront that show efforts to improve their appearance.

"We're not judging the amount of work done or the quality," said Christina Currie, executive director of the Craig Chamber of Commerce. "What we're doing is rewarding anyone who puts forth an effort to improve their property."
Improvements can range from painting and refurbishing to removing junk and weeds.
Photos can be submitted via e-mail to or drop them off at the Craig Chamber of Commerce, 360 E. Victory Way. Participants also will be recognized in the Chamber Connection, distributed monthly by the Craig Daily Press.
