I would like to take the time to thank Jeff Hergenreter and the Maybell Ambulance for their response and care of my husband after his snowmobile accident on Cold Springs Mountain on March 11, 2007.
But I would also like to inform Moffat County residents of the experience we received from The Memorial Hospital.
My husband, who had head injuries, was unconscious for about 30 to 40 minutes before the ambulance got to him. No one ordered X-rays or CT scans. Plus my husband had a huge gaping gash from his mouth to his jawbone.
I was told "there is nothing we can do for him here. He needs to go to Steamboat."
A little while later we were told Steamboat would be expecting him.
I had to drive my husband to Steamboat with a bleeding mouth and jaw.
People of Moffat County, ask your self this: Do we need a new hospital or just better doctors?
Steamboat was shocked to hear my husband had no X-rays or CT scans done in Craig. Steamboat told me how dangerous it was for a patient to have been unconscious for that amount of time, and not know if they have head injuries or not.
