Adding a fresh coat of paint and eliminating clutter has given ImageMakers Salon a new look, owner Susan Johnston said.
Johnston has owned three salons in Craig since 1979, and ImageMakers since 1996. The shop has been at its current location, 458 Yampa Ave., since 2001.
"Since this all occurred, I've been thinking about ideas," Johnston said.
After returning from a trip to Maui, Hawaii, in February, Johnston was ready to bring those ideas to fruition with a bamboo theme.
She began renovations March 9 and completed work shortly after. The shop was closed for four days during renovations.
Changes include new paint -- orange and sage green -- moving the supply room doorway, removing wall cabinets and adding tall bamboo cabinets. She also moved the reception desk and added full-length mirrors at each of the four workstations.
"I wanted to add more character and open it up to more retail," Johnston said. "I wanted to make it a lot more clean lines, professional, non-cluttered, and I've accomplished that."
The shop, which employs five stylists besides Johnston, offers haircuts and styling, pedicures, waxing, tanning, ear piercing and hair and lotion product sales.
Johnston said the changes have made the shop feel bigger and more inviting.
"I just love coming to work," she said. "It's just fun."
There are a few more projects Johnston hopes to complete soon, including moving the shampoo area and bathroom door, adding additional shelving and incorporating reception chairs.
