5 p.m. The Moffat County High School girls basketball team hosts a chili supper fundraiser during tailgating at the high school, 900 Finley Lane.
5 p.m. Gates open for the Moffat County High School homecoming football game. Tickets are on sale for a chance to start the halftime fireworks show at the football game. Tickets cost $1. The cross-country team sells 50/50 raffle tickets at the high school during tailgating.
6:15 p.m. Girls basketball golf ball drop. Balls are available for $10 each before the drop time of 6: 30 p.m. The winner will receive $1,000.
6:30 p.m. Meeker hosts a celebration of National Public Lands Day at the library on Main Street in Meeker. Gloria Thompson presents a history of the Ute Nation. Bureau of Land Management Colorado Director Sally Wisely presents on the centennial of the Antiquities Act.
7 p.m. The Moffat County High School homecoming football game vs. Steamboat Springs is at MCHS, 900 Finley Lane. A fireworks show is at halftime.
Saturday, Sept. 30
9 to 11 a.m. Craig Youth Hockey hosts a hockey equipment swap at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way. To sell equipment, sign in by 8:30 a.m. Call Tanya Ferguson at 824-4655.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A farmers and art market is at the Wyman Living History Ranch and Museum, three miles east of Craig on U.S. Highway 40. Guests can visit Clyde the elk and the rest of the museum.
9:30 a.m. The Bureau of Land Management will host a wild horse adoption at the Yellow Creek Corrals, 30 miles west of Meeker. Viewing is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Twenty-five animals will be offered for auction with an opening bid of $125, and most are younger than 5.The corrals are on Rio Blanco County Road 20, and the auction is a silent bid adoption. 10 a.m. National Public Lands Day celebration is at the White River Museum and City Park in Meeker. Events include Dutch oven cooking, concerts by Northern Ute flute maker Wayne Gardner and Ute drum groups and dance demonstrations.
2 p.m. Magic, Magic, Magic Show, benefiting the Humane Society of Moffat County, is at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane. The show raises funds for special needs at the shelter, including care for abused and abandoned animals, and medical expenses such as vaccinations and spaying/neutering of animals. 2 p.m. A music program featuring women's barbershop group River Queens and local talent is at Little Snake River Valley School music room in Baggs, Wyo. Donations are accepted.
