Kenneth George Blevins was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Craig, to Alfred G. and Ferma Irene (Talkington) Blevins. He was raised and attended school in Craig. Kenneth joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17 and served for the next 20 years. He was stationed in various places including England, Spain, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan and San Diego and at bases in the United States.
He has resided in San Diego, San Bernadino, Lakeside and Highland, Calif., since retirement and worked at numerous odd jobs. He enjoyed being outdoors, building model cars and was a very dedicated family man. His daughter Shawn was the love of his life, along with his step-grandson Devin Dawson.
Kenneth died Sept. 9, 2006, in an Ontario, Calif., hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his daughter, Shawn Blevins of Gillette, Wyo.; sister, Wilma (Mickey) Hayes of Hayden; brother, Lynn (Kathy) Blevins of Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents Alfred and Ferma Blevins, a sister Alice Bordeaux and a niece Michelle Hayes preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at the Grant Mortuary in Craig, with Wayne DeLuca officiating. The hymns "Peace in the Valley" and "You Are My Sunshine" were sung by Karen Brown, accompanied on the organ by Ann Carr. Honorary pallbearers were all of Kenneth's family and many friends. His cremains were interred in the veterans section at Craig Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sol-Domus (Sunshine House), a group home for people with disabilities where his daughter is cared for, in care of Grant Mortuary.
