William (Bill) R. Haggerty, 80, passed away Sept. 15, 2006, at the Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orem, Utah. He was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Craig. He was the oldest of eight children born to James M. Haggerty and Annie Jane Kerns Haggerty.
He grew up in the Williams Fork area in Colorado. He received his education in the one-room Waddle Creek School. He went to work for the Seely family at age 16. He worked for them for many years. He also worked for several ranchers in the Craig and Meeker area. He later moved to Craig and went to work for Stanton Transportation.
He had a love of good food. He was a big fan of Western movies and rodeos. He was baptized and confirmed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Nov. 25, 1961.
He is survived by six brothers, Carl (Violet) Clarkson of Nyssa, Ore.; Harold Haggerty and John (Darlene) Haggerty of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Glen (Velma) Haggerty of Orem, Utah; and Wayne (Wanda) Haggerty and Larry (Paula) Haggerty of Craig; 12 nieces; and seven nephews. He will be loved and missed by us all.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Makings and Clayton Haggerty, and one sister, Shirley Minton.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at the LDS chapel, 1295 W. Ninth St., Craig.
