Bryce Jacobson, publisher of the Craig Daily Press, was named Publisher of the Year on Sept. 7 at the annual Publisher's Meeting for The World Company.
The Daily Press is owned by WorldWest LLC, a subsidiary of The World Company. The awards ceremony and training workshops were held in Lawrence, Kan.
Officials with the company cited the rarity of a "rookie" winning such an award. Jacobson joined the Daily Press staff in January.
"I was so excited that my hard work has paid off," Jacobson said. "This award is a direct reflection of the hard work of the Daily Press staff since I've been here."
Jacobson was presented a watch with the award.
The Daily Press also won second place for best news project in its circulation class for its work on "Desperate Decision," a series focused on suicide in Moffat County. The judges for the award said the project had strong writing, reporting, design and community relevance.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today, in Steamboat Springs, also owned by WorldWest LLC, won several awards at the meeting as well.
